PFNC Study

In collaboration with Dr. Raquel Gur and the Lifespan Brain Institute, we are undergoing The Philadelphia Family Neurodevelopment (PFNC) Study. This is a virtual follow-up study for individuals that participated in a research study with our lab 10-15 years ago. The aim of the study is to examine participant's well being and learn more about their families.  We plan to conduct additional follow-up studies with these participants in the future, such as the COPE Study.

COPE Study

The purpose of the COPE Study is to examine how parents and children process emotional, social, and other types of information, and how this may relate to emotional well-being and mental health.

We are recruiting mothers who participated in a research study in our lab 10-15 years ago and their 4-8-year-old children. The visits will take place at our lab in University City and will last about 4 hours.

Participation in the study includes:

  • Computer games

  • EEG and ECG (see additional info about these procedures here)

  • A couple brief parent-child activities

  • A brief interview about feelings and behaviors

  • Surveys

  • Medical record review at CHOP/Penn

  • Saliva collection

Pregnant Woman

Pregnancy & Placenta Study

We are collaborating with Dr. Raquel Gur, the Lifespan Brain Institute, and several physicians at Penn Medicine Obstetrics to examine links between prenatal factors and children's well-being. We are enrolling women who participated in a PennMedicine study during pregnancy, and their children 4-9 years after delivery. The goal is to examine how differences in placenta health and functioning may relate to children's later cognitive and emotional development.
